Choosing an Informal Wedding Dress

The key to finding an informal wedding dress is that it doesn't need to be a “wedding dress”. While many informal wedding dresses are available at wedding salons, if it is very informal or on a beach, a department store might have just the thing you need.

While white is still the most popular choice, now matter how informal, any color goes if that is what you want – as long as you don't clash with the groom! A simple shift dress or a sophisticated “party dress” are ideal choices and can be worn again if you are the type of person who doesn't want to spend money on a once-worn garment. It can also make the reception more comfortable if there is no time or wish to change outfit.

Many brides choose the informal wedding dress to wear again. A plain and simple informal wedding dress can be accessorized to give it that something special for the day. Pretty jewelery, gorgeous shoes and a bright but simple bouquet will set it off beautifully. Hair can also be kept casual to finish the look and make many brides feel more at ease.

A dress that is less wedding-like and more an elegant fashionable dress can also be accessorized to suit the day with matching flowers. A lady who is marrying for the second time or more may prefer to take this option.

Bridal designers are now making many styles of informal dresses as this type of wedding becomes more popular. A strapless sheath dress, or asymmetric skirts in flowy fabrics are beautiful yet simple. However, similar styles can be found in ordinary clothing stores and usually cost considerably less.

The most informal wedding dress is that for a beach wedding. A light sundress may be all that is needed, or even a white bikini and sarong. This is perfectly acceptable at a beach wedding and makes the day far more comfortable than wearing a long, fitted traditional dress.
