Choosing a Wedding Dress

The wedding dress is usually the biggest decision for the bride to make for her big day. She wants to look gorgeous, and with the choice of dresses around, there is no reason for her not to.

We all recognize the traditional wedding dress and these are readily available at any bridal store, online and even in some department stores. These range from the traditional, full skirted dress with bows, frill and long trains, to the simple yet elegant sheath dress. Whatever the bride's tastes, there will be a wedding dress to suit. A wedding dress need not even be white or ivory any more. A number of designs come in pretty pastel shades, or even brighter colors for the more daring bride.

The wedding dress for an informal wedding does not need to be so traditional. A “dressy dress” can be sufficient as a wedding dress, something from a favorite designer or an evening wear supplier, perhaps. This kind of dress suits the bride who might not want to spend hundreds of dollars on an outfit she will never wear again.

The most informal wedding dresses might not even be a dress. A trouser suit might be the choice of the older bride, or a bikini and sarong for a beach bride. Anything goes these days as far as the wedding dress is concerned.

There are also many choices for the plus size bride and the pregnant bride. There are companies who specialize in wedding dresses for these groups of women and many bridal salons will stock their dresses.

The choice of wedding dress need only be limited by the budget - from under $100 to thousands of dollars. If budget is an issue, bridal stores often have sales. The designer wedding dress need not even be out of everyone's reach since there are often sales of samples and stock overruns. Today's bride's choice is limited only by how much legwork she puts into finding her dream wedding dress.
